Lee, this is real nice. My goal when we documented the making of G&G was to make a "Hearts of Darkness" style doc. We had enough footage. What Warner Bros wanted was a 30 min promo for HBO about the main characters. So A LOT of our footage was left on the floor.

I guess I don't get it. I would never purposefully abuse a corpse of 'any' stripe. But conversely, I wouldn't give homage to corpses of men who -- whether they chose to acknowledge it or not-- ultimately died so that men, women, and children -- indeed 'American' men women and children -- could be casually stripped of their humanity, have their labor appropriated, their children sold, be regularly brutalized, and occasionally (however counter-profitably) murdered. I wouldn't proactively disrespect their corpses...but I certainly wouldn't make any effort to immortalize them with public honors. Their choices were not honorable. Sorry. Move their bones for hygienic purposes...but please consign the remains of such beings who consciously made such a depraved choice to the anonymity of history. Goodness... what next? More public expenditure to immortalize field Nazis on European eastern front? Perhaps the Jan-Jeweed reprobates on the Sudanese western periphery? How about dead ISIS warriors fighting for a new Islamic State, who also practiced mass involuntary labor appropriation, rape, torture while truly believing they were manifesting the will of God? Tragic. I fully expect the surviving Confederacy Nationalists to protest vigorously. But...such is the nature of hypocrisy. Proceed.

OUR PROBLEMS IN THIS COUNTRY CAN NOT BE SOLVED BY ANOTHER CIVIL WAR. IF WE TURN TO HIM, ONLY GOD CAN TAKE CARE OF OUR TROUBLES.

One of the best videos of Gettysburg battle I have ever watched and I'm 75 years and have been reading and studying this battlefield for 60 years. I really appreciated the text that accompanied the spoken words and the maps that showed where you walked. I also enjoyed the music. The playing of "Taps" at the end really made me appreciate the sacrifice made that day. Excellent video.

To bad the war didnt end on that day. There was no way the south could ever win this stupid war. They never had any real chance.

I caught the "Civil War Bug" when I was in junior high school (around 1971). I was totally devoted to this until I left for Marine Corps Boot Camp in the Summer of 1976. I have wanted to visit Gettysburg ever since. I have never had the honor, and I don't think I'll ever go now that I am older and can't walk those fields. A couple of years ago I was able to pass through the main battle areas of that war when I rode with a fellow Marine from Myrtle Beach, SC to Triangle, VA to see the National Museum of The Marine Corps. I was awed the entire trip by the fact that I was passing through ground that had been contested violently in the mid 19th Century. Thousands of men fought, died, or bled on these grounds that now hold only roads and towns and cites (Richmond, St Petersburg, Quantico MCB), and are peaceful and serene. I wonder how much the blood of those men enriched the soil that still makes the trees and grass grow so lush and green there. May God rest the souls of all those men, Yank and Reb alike.

I can imagine that many of those who participated in this, when they got to end said, f-it we know who won this battle. Okay lets go home.

Remembering the Civil War and all who have sacrifice is what makes Americans what we are today. Both the North and the South the blue and the gray must be remembered. This was not just a war for states rights or slavery. It was a war to unify a country as one. As one famous person said, united we stand divided we fall. We must unite As Americans. Not as Spanish or blacks. Whites or yellows. We are all Americans. Remember the government works for us the people of the country are the government. That's what our founding fathers wanted. The Constitution is written in stone. It is not up for debate. He who says that it's not written in stone does not know history and will repeat it again
